These are Tights!

I went to a hosiery sale this afternoon and bought lots of tights, stockings and utilitarian underwear (the seamfree comfy types). Total damage: $22. Love a bargain!
And then I remembered that yesterday I found these printed tights by Shenkar textile design graduate Gal Stern and decided to carry on the theme. The prints are inspired by nature and include fish scales, eagle feathers and lizard skin. Dare to wear.

Label Focus: Norsea Industries

Norsea Industries is a menswear label hailing from the eastern coast in northern England.
This is what they have to say:
"Combining traditional fabrics and finishes along with hand made trims developed in our studio using authentic silversmithing techniques. A modern collection of reworked classics. Norsea celebrates the local region and the relics and history found therein. Dare to be Free"
I hear ya... (and I want these necklaces).

Summer sandals

I can't believe this is actually happening but instead of investing in that beautiful pair of Maison Martin Margiela booties I'm just about to spent $350 on a front row ticket to the Oilers-Canucks game in Edmonton. Since when did hockey take over from my footwear addiction? This is quite disturbing really...
So now that I'm blowing my budget on hockey games (and hockey gear) I have to look at cheaper options for fashion and shoes. These cute sandals are from YesStyle and would only set me back $50 or so.

To buy or not to buy...

Yesterday I tried on these gorgeous Maison Martin Margiela booties at Zambesi in Melbourne. They are down to $400 (AUD) which is a total bargain but... (there's always a but) they are a little bit small. The leather might give a bit with age but that's not guaranteed. Do I spend the money or do I look elsewhere? what do you think?

La Garconne lookbook

These images are from La garconne's Spring/Summer 09 lookbook. I love the understated yet sophisticated styles created by combining well-made statement pieces with comfortable basics. I really think La Garconne is fast becoming my favourite shop...

Colourful Tuesday

Gadofka Mushira Dress. Available at Not Just a label
Kristin Hensel. Available at Styleserver (great shop for European labels based in Germany)
Junior Massive tees. Available for boys and girls on their online store

Tuesday is my favourite day of the week because I get to leave work early to go to hockey practice. Since discovering there's hockey in Melbourne I've turned into quite an ice junky (the frozen type) and spend an increasing amount of time freezing my butt off at the rink. I thought I'd celebrate this Tuesday with some bright colours to cheer up those of you who do not like Tuesdays.

Alexa Chung does stripes

I am a stripe lover. I already have many stripy items in my wardrobe but one can never have enough stripes (just like shoes). Alexa Chung certainly knows that and shows off her stripes proudly.

In need of new dress

Fillipa K Ocean Sheer Frill Dress from Oak NYC
Rachel Comey Bold Print Popcorn Dress from Oak NYC
Silence & Noise Boatneck Tunic from Urban Outfitters

Call me boring but somehow most of my wardrobe consists of shades of black and grey. I didn't quite intend for it to be so monotone so I've decided to add some colour. I'd love a new dress with an all-over print but other than Rachel Comey's popcorn dress (which I adore and have posted another version of before) haven't found anything I like. Help...

My own vintage sneakers

Ok, so maybe they're not all vintage but I still love them just as much. These original 1980 hi-top canvas Nikes are definitely my favourites. Also had to include my hockey skates and stick in one shot just because I can...

Limited Vintage Sneakers

Vintage sneakers are cool. I have a miniscule collection and would like to expand but my size is hard to find. If you like them too check out this article with plenty of pics from Sneaker Freaker.
P.S. I might be showing my age here but when the Nike Huarache first came out I thought they were the coolest thing on the planet.

Feeling stripey

Fifi Lapin is one stylish bunny!

Urban Outfitters : Urban Renewal Knit Tube Tunic & BDG Raglan Sleeve Tee

Revolve Clothing: Steven Alan Buoy Top in Navy Stripe

Today I was inspired by Fifi Lapin's cute nautical outfit and decided to investigate further. I might have to put together my own nautical outfit tomorrow (and maybe even take pics for a change).
